Our team averages a 98.2 ATAR and includes students ranked 1st in the state, the Dux of Ascham, the Dux of Queen Margaret College and the Second Dux of St Andrews, and IB graduates with perfect and near-perfect scores. Every one is interviewed and trialled before they ever meet your child.

The HSC is a NSW race, but the IB is a global one. So we do not limit ourselves to Sydney. Our IB team includes the Dux of her school in Wellington with a perfect 45 out of 45, the highest score the Diploma allows, and a 43-scorer out of Singapore. We teach the idea, not the answer
A memorised answer collapses the moment an exam asks the same idea a different way. So we teach the concept until it genuinely makes sense, then drill the exam technique on top. It is slower in week one and it is why the marks hold in Year 12, and the year after that.

Founder's Story
Built from frustration.
Driven by purpose.
I'm a Cranbrook graduate, and a passionate student of Mathematics and Economics. Throughout my schooling, I kept noticing the same flaw running through the system: students were being taught to memorise worked solutions and rehearse essay responses, but rarely to grasp the deeper meaning behind the concepts themselves.
For someone who genuinely wanted to understand how the world worked (the principles, the mechanics, the why beneath every formula and theory), that was deeply frustrating. Yet time was never on my side. Every attempt to engage at a deeper level seemed to come at the cost of exam marks, and the system quietly pushed me back toward surface-level learning just to keep pace.
Everything changed when I rebuilt my study from the ground up. I developed strategies that fused real conceptual understanding with the structure needed to perform under exam pressure, and the results followed naturally.
I founded LearnIt to give every student access to that same approach: one that doesn't trade depth for marks, but delivers both.

Everything parents usually want to know before getting started.
We offer tutoring in a variety of places to best fit your schedule. Lessons run at the Learn It Centre in Double Bay, at Level 2, Shop 10 and 11, 401 New South Head Road, Double Bay NSW 2028. We can also come to your home anywhere across the Eastern Suburbs, or teach online through our newly built dual screen application, which puts the tutor and the work side by side on screen. Many families mix all three across a term.
Rates depend on your child's year level and which service you choose. Lessons at our Double Bay centre and online are charged at the standard rate for that year level, and in home tutoring is an additional $15 per hour. There are no hidden fees, no joining costs and no lock in contracts. Get in touch and we will give you the exact figure for your child's year level and the format you prefer.
Of course you can. Our highest priority is a genuine connection between tutor and student, because a student who actually looks forward to their lesson will always learn more than one who doesn't. Have a look through our tutors above, tell us who you'd like when you get in touch, and we'll arrange it around their availability. If you'd rather we recommended someone, we'll suggest the tutor we think fits your child best, and you're free to change at any time at no cost.
We match on three things: subject expertise, personality fit, and availability. We consider what your child needs (a patient, confidence-building approach versus a sharp, extension-level push) and pick accordingly. If it isn't the right fit after the first session, we'll match you with someone else at no cost.
Kindergarten through to Year 12, plus the full IB Diploma. Our team covers Maths from Standard through to Extension 2, English from Standard to Extension 2, all sciences including Physics, Chemistry and Biology, and languages including Japanese, Latin, French and Spanish, alongside Economics, Business Studies, Legal Studies, Modern History and more. Whatever your child is studying, ask us and we will match them with the right tutor.
Yes, and this is where we differ from most services. You get feedback from your tutor after every session, plus free access to the LearnIt app, where a live parent dashboard shows exactly what your child has practised and where they're improving.
Every tutor is a top-performing recent graduate: our team averages a 98.2 ATAR and includes state rankers and a perfect score IB graduate. All tutors hold a valid NSW Working With Children Check, and each is interviewed and trialled before meeting a student.
We have a 9 hour cancellation policy. We understand that life happens and sometimes a child simply wakes up sick, so as long as you let us know at least 9 hours before the session, you will not be charged and we'll find another time that suits.
That is completely fine. We invoice at the start of each term, so if your child misses a session it is either credited to the following term or refunded to you, whichever you would prefer. There are no lock in contracts, so you can pause for a term or stop altogether whenever you need to, and nothing is held over you.
Usually within a week. We'll come back to you within 24 hours of your enquiry with a matched tutor, and then schedule your first session around your availability.
